Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Laura Sullivan was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam, her mother has been a backup singer in the past at Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, her father was appointed to be one of the cities' Historic Strawberry Mansion curator. Her family later moved into this historic building. In 2005, she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of singer-music major. Sullivan began singing in the school's chorus in the contralto position, and then she joined the adult chorus a couple of years further on. He was exposed to secular music but was initially limited "I had solos singing in the church and was approached by someone to be a part of a gospel label when I had turned eleven, however I wasn't ready to do that," she recalls. "Then the time came that McDonald's offered a competition to children in cities of the world, I got a chance to sing 'Accept Whatever God Gives' on Showtime at the Apollo and the audience was very enthusiastic". Stevie Wonder sang her part on his birthday, 13 years old. Sullivan At the age of 15 began her career with Jive Records. She recorded an entire album, but the album was never released. Sullivan was eventually dropped by the labels. She maintained a working relationship with Missy Elliott she produced some of the songs in her debut album including the buzz single "Backstabbers" that was written and produced by Timbaland and composed by Elliott.
